Roban Festival making comeback after eight years

ROBAN: About 19 events have been lined up for the Roban Festival which will held at the end of October some eight years after the last one.

Among others the focus will be on the boat race known as Jaguh Lumba Perau Sungai Seblak and tug-of-war on the water.

And also the iconic event over the years, the Three Serum Pansuh Competition.

There will also be a Pekan Sari Roban (Oct 22-29), Mini Fun Fair (Oct 14-29), exhibition and sale of animation art and handicrafts, free health screening, briefing and Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) registration and fireworks show.

There will be various activities such as Roban Cycling Fun Ride, Indoor Badminton and Ping Pong Competitions, Let’s Exercise Programme, entertainment activities like R-pop Idol, Cultural Night Dance Performance, Queen Kebaya Contest, karaoke competition, and local artist performances.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said the Roban Festival this time will be more interesting as the three elected representatives from Kalaka, Krian and Kabong together with the Roban Subdistrict Office are joining forces to make the festival a success.

We anticipate 5,000 visitors for the boat races, tug-of-war and other programmes, he said.
