KUCHING: Larry Ong Soon Soon is the new president of the Rotary Club of Kuching of the Rotary International District 3310.

He was installed as the 79th president of the club in a simple installation ceremony at the Auditorium of Chemsain Building, Rock Road here recently.

His appointment has been described as marking the beginning of a new vocational year of service in the Rotary calendar, a Rotary press statement said.

Themed “Oohaa Rotary”, the installation ceremony saw the auditorium draped in copious forest ornaments, signifying the abundance of nature and greenery in Sarawak, marking a distinct departure from the usually formal installation ceremony.

The club line-up of vocational and community services however remains firmly sighted into the core of the Rotary’s “Service Above Self” six thrusts namely, promoting peace, fighting diseases, providing clean water, hygiene and sanitation, saving mothers and children, supporting education and growing local economies.

The club will continue its signature projects namely supporting the Sarawak Kidney Foundation to provide dialysis services in collaboration with the National Kidney Foundation.
