KUCHING: Rotary International District 3310 is thrilled to reveal the upcoming District Conference (DISCON) 2024, scheduled to take place in Kuching from May 17 to May 19, 2024.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Kuching, this event will unfold under the theme ‘Celebrating Hope,’ signifying the club’s unwavering commitment to its mission of ‘Creating Hope in the World.’
DISCON 2024 is poised to be a joyous congress, offering a platform for Rotary members and friends to connect, share experiences, and commemorate collective efforts in making a positive impact globally.
District Governor of Rotary International District 3310, Dr John Chan, disclosed that the conference will encompass a diverse range of engaging activities.
These include an exhilarating round of golf at the Sarawak Golf Club, a welcome dinner set against the scenic backdrop of the Sarawak River, and a comprehensive conference featuring thought-provoking sessions by distinguished speakers.
“The pinnacle of the event will be the Governor’s Banquet, promising an unforgettable evening of celebration and camaraderie,” he stated in a press release on Wednesday (Jan 10).
Chan also noted a unique feature of DISCON 2024, aiming to set the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest gathering of people in ethnic wear, culminating in a choreographed dance.
“This spectacular event will showcase the rich diversity of our nation as well as Rotary members from around the globe and underscore its significance within the Rotary community.”
He further mentioned that in March 2023, the Rotary Club of Kuching announced the adoption of a baby orangutan born in the wild in Sarawak.
“At DISCON 2024, attendees will have the privilege of witnessing the official naming of the baby orangutan, named Hope, as its birth certificate is signed.
“This momentous occasion aligns with the Rotary theme for 2023-2024, ‘Create Hope in the World,’ symbolising the association’s commitment to making a positive impact on the world.”
