KOTA SAMARAHAN: Roxy Hotel is now open and operating in Kota Samarahan and will be able to benefit the people here.

Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos said every year, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) will have their convocation ceremonies where parents and relatives are scrambling for hotel rooms in the area, on top of business people trying to do the same.

“MPKS is happy that a full-fledged hotel, the Roxy Hotel is now opening up and operating in Kota Samarahan, complete with an Indo-like food outlet called ‘Sambal Sambal’ next door.

“In the coming years more and more people need hotel rooms in Kota Samarahan as more businesses and government projects are coming in,” he said in a statement after the launching of the hotel, yesterday.

Also present to officiate at the launching was Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

According to Minos, the hotel has 48 rooms and is well catered and well above the budget hotel standard.

He also said a food court is coming up near the hotel.

“This food court, a huge longish one, will provide very affordable food and drink and targeted for budget-conscious UNIMAS and UiTM students.

He said the operator is leasing the street space from MPKS for the food court.
