SIBU: The Satellite Office and Dialogue Session Programme plays a crucial role in conveying government policies to the rural population,

Kapitan Wong Hua, chairman of the Sungai Empawah neighbourhood watch committee (KRT) said the programme was being held for the first time in the area.

The programme is jointly organised by the Sungai Empawah Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), Paradom JKKK, Tung Nam Poh JKKK, Sungai Maaw JKKK, Seberang Ensurai/Tanjung Kunyit/Tanjung Pan JKKK, Tanjung Ensurai JKKK, Bukit Lan JKKK, Sungai Bidut/Telok Bango/Bukit Igu JKKK, and the Rejang Medical Centre.

“The objective of today’s programme is to provide an opportunity for rural residents to undergo free health check-ups, register for the Kenyalang Gold Card, apply for welfare assistance, and more.

“At the same time, rural residents also have the chance to participate in dialogue sessions with relevant agencies,” he said at the programme held at the SMK Chung Cheng hall on today (August 13).

Wong said among the services provided are free health screenings such as cervical and breast cancer screenings, blood pressure checks, blood sugar level tests, services from the National Registration Department such as repairing damaged identity cards, and free dental check-ups.

“Public complaint services, Kenyalang Gold Card registration, welfare assistance applications, legal advice services, Perkeso applications such as the Social Security Scheme for Housewives and Self-Employment Scheme, as well as E-kasih assistance applications, are also available,” he said.

Meanwhile, on the dialogue session, Wong said it involves various agencies such as the Sibu District Office, Sibu Rural District Council, Sibu Water Board, National Registration Department, Central Sibu Region of Sesco Berhad, Public Works Department, Telekom Malaysia, Drainage and Irrigation Department, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, Department of Social Welfare, Immigration Department and Royal Malaysian Police.

“Through programmes like this, I hope issues faced by village residents can be resolved,” Wong added.
Also present were Political Secretary to the Premier, Alexander Asing representing the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, and councillor Joshua Ting.
