KUCHING: Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cybersecurity Malaysia.

The MoU which was signed during the Asia Pacific Cybersecurity Conference 2023 Gala Dinner on Friday is in relation to collaboration in product security evaluations and certifications.

Federal Minister of Communications and Digital Fahmi Fadzil, who was present to witness the signing of the MOU, said cybersecurity is a critical issue that affects governments, businesses, and individuals alike.

He said in today’s interconnected world where lives are increasingly shaped by digital technologies, the protection of online assets and safeguarding digital identities have become paramount.

“The rapid advancement of technology has brought numerous benefits, but it has also opened new avenues for cyber threats and attacks. This conference serves as a vital forum for us to explore and address these challenges head on.

Fahmi reiterated that cybersecurity is not solely the duty of governments or organisations as it is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of individuals as well.

“By educating ourselves and adopting safe digital practices, we can create a culture of cybersecurity that extends beyond this conference,” he said.
