Santubong projects stopped by PH to continue

KUCHING: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar will ensure that six projects amounting to RM58.2mil under the Santubong parliamentary constituency are continued.

The projects include the construction of the Kampung Muara Tebas embankment costing RM25mil, Sungai Sematan estuary erosion control project (RM7.5mil), Kampung Bradek flood mitigation project (RM7mil), Sungai Sematan estuary preservation project (RM6.5mil), Sungai Buntal estuary preservation project (RM5.7mil) as well as Sungai Bako estuary preservation project (RM6.5mil).

Datuk Seri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie, the political secretary to the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), confirmed that projects that were halted during the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government would be resumed.

He also stated that he and Wan Junaidi would reopen project files frozen by the Pakatan Harapan government in the Santubong parliamentary constituency.

He went on to note that during Wan Junaidi’s stint as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment in 2018, he had approved a total of RM59mil for six flood control projects in his parliamentary area.
