SAR launched for missing villager

BETONG: A Search and Rescue (SAR) operation was activated today (Sept 23) to locate a man who has been missing since Wednesday.

Wan Belu, 60, had failed to return home after leaving his house at Rumah Edward in Layar near here to go fishing at around 4pm.

The State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said rescuers were alerted by the Betong district police headquarters.

The centre said rescuers immediately rushed to the scene to conduct search operations for the missing man.

The victim has still not been found at press time.
