SAR ops launched for missing Kenyah woman

Rescuers being briefed on their assignments involving the search for Christa Paya Peter.

BELAGA: A local woman has been reported missing since Monday (Apr 1) after failing to return home near Simpang Sepakau, Sungai Asap.

Christa Paya Peter, 29, had accompanied her mother to a farm around 4.30 pm. Subsequently, she was asked by her mother to retrieve a sickle from home, but she never returned to the farm.

Despite efforts to locate her, including the filing of a missing person’s report at 3.40 pm yesterday (Apr 2), the victim has yet to be found.

Christa, described as about 130 cm tall with long black hair, was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and shorts.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received an emergency call from Belaga police for search assistance at 8.10 am this morning (Apr 3).

Firefighters from Belaga station who were dispatched to the scene initiated a search and rescue (SAR) operation to locate Christa.

Joining the search are the police, Civil Defence Force (APM) and People’s Volunteer Corp (Rela).

At the time of writing, Christa is yet to be found.
