KUCHING: Two national bodybuilding champions from Sarawak, Dr Malvern Abdullah and Philomena Dexclyn Siar, clinched medals at the recent World Bodybuilding and Physique Championship in Wonjo, South Korea.

Malvern, securing a silver medal in the 160 cm and above category, expressed joy and satisfaction at his performance.

“The competition was intense, especially from representatives of other nations. Nevertheless, I managed to give my best performance in the final stage,” he told the media upon his arrival at the Kuching International Airport on Tuesday (Nov 14).

He added that this achievement marks his fifth silver medal in this world-class championship.

For Philomena, the podium finish was unexpected but greatly appreciated, saying: “I’m thankful for winning two bronze medals in the championship. The challenges were quite intense this time but I managed to overcome them.”

Her two bronze medals were in the women’s physique categories (165 cm and above) and open women’s physique.

Both athletes vowed to continue their training for the upcoming competition in Batam, Indonesia.
