KUCHING: Sarawak recorded four new Covid-19 cases here on Saturday (Nov 14), bringing the total number of cases to 1,036.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the first two cases — Case 1,033 and Case 1,034 — were detected through the second screening of contact tracings at government health facilities.

“Case 1,033 is a child and close contact to a couple (Cases 1,010 and 1,012) reported on Nov 11 and 12. The case is related to the Abell Cluster.

“Case 1,034 is a family member and close contact to Case 866. The case is related to a positive contact from the Wisma Saberkas Cluster.

“Both cases have been admitted to isolation wards at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and active case detection on other contacts is on-going,” it said in a statement on Saturday (Nov 14).

Case 1,035 is a woman working as a Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel who returned to her home-state, Melaka.

She came back to Sarawak through Kuching International Airport (KIA) on Nov 2 and had undergone 14-day quarantine in Kuching.

“The first screening test of the case was conducted on Nov 2 but was found negative. The second screening test was conducted on Nov 11 and her result came back positive on Friday,” it added.

Meanwhile, Case 1,036 is a local man who returned from Jordan through Qatar via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Nov 8. He arrived at KIA on Nov 10. This case is a student in Jordan.

“While stopping at KLIA, the case was screened and was found to be negative, and was sent to a quarantine centre upon his arrival at KIA.

“The first swab test was taken on Nov 11 and the result came back positive on Friday,” it said.

Both cases did not show any symptoms and were admitted to isolation wards at SGH.

Apart from that, there were 18 new recovery and discharged cases from SGH (17) and Miri Hospital (one), bringing the number of recoveries and discharged cases to 908 or 87.64 percent.

Six new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported and one is waiting for the lab test result.

Sarawak still has six active clusters — Abell Cluster, Baki Cluster, Greenhill Cluster, Wisma Saberkas Cluster, Bah Arnab Cluster, and Seladah Cluster.

Kuching is still a red zone, while Miri, Lundu and Lawas are yellow zones.
