Sarawak records four new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded four new Covid-19 cases here on Sunday (Nov 15), bringing the total number of cases to 1,040.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the first three cases — Cases 1,037; 1,038; and 1,039 — were close contacts to previously reported cases.

“Case 1,037 and 1,038 are family members and living in the same house with Case 918 which was reported on Nov 3. They did not show any symptoms. These cases are related to the Greenhill Cluster.

“Case 1,039 is a friend to Case 947 which was reported on Nov 6. The case experienced coughing and fever that day. This case is related to the Wisma Saberkas Cluster.

“All these cases were detected through second screening of contact tracing at government health facilities,” it said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 15).

These cases have been admitted to isolation wards at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and active case detection on other contacts is ongoing.

Meanwhile, Case 1,040 is a local man who underwent Covid-19 screening as he experienced fever, fatigue and headache last Saturday.

The case is an employee of a private company and living in a hostel provided by the company.

“The case received treatment and underwent Covid-19 screening at a health clinic last Saturday. test results came back positive on Sunday (Nov 15).

“The case has no history of traveling abroad or visited high-risk areas outside the state. The case is categorised as a local infection and the case has not yet been linked to any existing cluster,” it added.

The man had been admitted to SGH. The case is still under investigation and contact tracing to this case is ongoing.

Apart from that, there were 18 new recovery and discharged cases from SGH (14) and Miri Hospital (four), bringing the number of recoveries and discharged cases to 926 or 89.04 percent.

As of Sunday (Nov 15), there is a total of 94 cases that are still receiving treatment at hospitals — 85 in isolation wards at SGH and nine in Miri Hospital.

Meanwhile, seven new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported and one is awaiting lab test result.
