Sarawak seeks more trade, investments with Singapore

KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan hopes to see more collaboration in trade and investment between Singapore and Sarawak.

He made the remark when receiving a courtesy call from Dr Beh Swan Gin, permanent secretary (Development) from the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex here, yesterday (May 17).

During the courtesy call, Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) exchanged ideas and views on a variety of subjects where Sarawak and Singapore can collaborate such as hydrogen economy, renewable energy, manufacturing, tourism, carbon capture, storage and exchange, food security and agriculture.

Awang Tengah also welcomed Dr Beh on the latter’s first visit to Sarawak upon his appointment as the permanent secretary.

Also present during the courtesy call were MINTRED deputy minister Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, the ministry’s advisor Datuk Naroden Majais, permanent secretary to Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Zaidi Mahdi and other ministry officials.
