Sarawak’s digital and innovation ecosystem highlighted at trade fair

BINTULU: The Malaysian International Food and Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from July 12 to 14 showcased various talents and innovations from all over the country.

The founder of Airgro, Kenneth Chai and co-founder cum chief technology officer (CTO) of Sinisana Technologies, Jonah Lau were among the experts and speakers invited to attend the ceremony.

Chai, who is an innovator of cloud agriculture and farming, captivated the audience with his insightful presentation titled “Growing More with Less Through Precision Agriculture.”

He also shared Airgro’s extraordinary journey to develop a natural eco-system known as the Climate Chamber for Growing Imported Crops.

Through their innovative solutions, Airgro demonstrates how the power of technology and precision agriculture techniques enable sustainable agriculture while optimising resources.
 
Chai also highlighted the support received from the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and their Centre of Excellence (CoE) test room, which played an important role in the development and prototyping of Airgro’s pilot system.

Meanwhile, Lau in his talk, explained the transformative effect of blockchain technology in the supply chain sector.

In his engaging session, Lau highlighted how blockchain has become a game changer, ensuring transparency, security, and efficiency in the supply chain processes.

He also shared insights on how Sinisana Technologies, a leading player in the blockchain industry, benefited from the support of SDEC’s Digital Village Accelerator (DiVA) Programme, which has played an important role in empowering Sarawak’s tech startups.

By sharing their knowledge and experience, Chai and Lau inspired other innovators and startups to venture outside their comfort zones and embrace their growth potentials.

“We believe that Sarawak has untapped potentials in driving innovation and technology,” said Head of the Research and Product Development Department at SDEC, Dr Khairul Hafiz Sharkawi.

“The achievements of Airgro and Sinisana Technologies highlight the progress made in Sarawak’s Digital and Innovation Ecosystem, which is a catalyst initiative of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), and an inspiration to potential innovators and entrepreneurs,” he said.

The MIFB provides a platform for industry players to exchange ideas, showcase cutting-edge products, and foster collaboration between key stakeholders in the food and beverage sector.
