KUCHING: The Satok state constituency recorded the sacrifice of approximately 80 cows on the first day of Hari Raya Aidiladha today (June 29).

Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki said the sacrifice ceremony encompassed the entire Satok branch, which consists of 15 Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) sub-branches.

He mentioned that the number of cows sacrificed this year has increased compared to the previous year due to higher donations from the public and the Satok service centre.

“Usually, the number of animals sacrificed is around 50 to 60. We received more than 20 donations from our service center, and the rest came from individuals and families. The ceremony covers 15 branches, and one was conducted at the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters,” he said.

He made these remarks when he met with the media at Masjid Darul Ibadah Kudei Lama, Kampung Kudei Lama, during the ceremony this afternoon.

He explained that within the mosque area alone, more than nine cows were sacrificed for the ceremony in the Satok area. For branches located farther from the mosque, he stated that the ceremony was held in community halls or suitable open areas.

Additionally, the distribution of meat will prioritise the asnaf group, families, and those in need within the Satok area.

“Each family will receive their share, and then we will also give it to the asnaf group and anyone in need because that is our priority,” he explained.

Earlier in the day, Ibrahim participated in the slaughtering ceremony of eight cows at Masjid Darul Ibadah Kudei Lama together with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadilah Yusof.

In Kampung Kudei Lama, a total of 254 people from the asnaf group and those in need received meat from the ceremony.

Next, Ibrahim went to Surau Nurul Iman in Kampung Kudei Baru Ulu for another sacrifice ceremony, where one cow was sacrificed at around 2pm.

After that, the assemblyman proceeded to Kampung Segedup to observe the sacrifice ceremony at 2:30 pm. The ceremony involved the participation of the Kampung Segedup village committee members and villagers, ensuring the smooth running of the event.
