SERIAN: Two mission schools in the Bukit Semuja constituency have received financial contributions from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR).

The beneficiaries are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) St Patrick Tangga and SK St Henry Selabi.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus recently presented a mock cheque for RM128,000 each to representatives of both schools during a simple handover ceremony at his service centre.

He expressed hope that the contributions, intended for school development, would also benefit the students.

At the same event, John also discussed various matters, particularly regarding the planning, usage, expenditure, and reporting procedures of the funds, emphasising that these processes must be transparent and careful.

In November 2023, it was reported that a total of RM17 million had been approved under phase two of the Sarawak Missionary School Fund Assistance for 2023. This amount will be disbursed to 126 mission schools in Sarawak through UNIFOR.

This marks the third year that the Sarawak government has provided financial assistance to mission schools in the state, with an allocation of up to RM20 million approved for 2023.
