KUCHING: A search for an elderly man who went missing at Kpg Silok, Lundu was called off yesterday due to heavy rain and fading light.

Lundu police chief, DSP Wong Chee Keong said at 5pm the police, firemen and villagers were still searching for the missing man in the rain.

He added that the search operation would be called off shortly as it was getting dark with heavy rain.

The missing man identified as Nohik anak Gindon aged 74 had wandered out of his house late afternoon yesterday and had not been found by family members after a search.

Nohik is suffering from dementia and his worried family members said he may haveforgotten the way home.

Police K-9 unit also joined in the search within a 4-km radius.
