MIRI: Search efforts have resumed on Friday for a 64-year-old woman who was reported missing while swimming in the river at Kampung Long Miri, Ulu Baram here, on October 30.

Marudi Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported receiving a distress call about the incident at 9.40 am on October 31, which prompted the dispatch of a search team to the area.

Search and Rescue (SAR) efforts were conducted by utilising a boat from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and six boats from the villagers. The operation covered a 5 to 8-kilometre radius downstream along the river and targeted areas surrounded by timber logs on the riverbanks.

Due to bad weather and the approach of nightfall, the search had to be suspended at 6 pm. To date, she has yet to be found.

A family member, who is also the complainant, has reported that the she was last seen swimming in the river on October 30 before her disappearance.
