Second day of 19th DUN a smooth affair

THE second day of the first session of the 20th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) proceeded smoothly, commencing at 9am, Tuesday (May 16).

The session began with an interactive question-and-answer segment involving 11 assemblymen who directed enquiries to various ministries and their representatives.

Subsequently, Deputy Premier and Second Minister for Finance and New Economy, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, introduced the first reading of the Supplementary Supply (2022) Bill 2023 and the Supplementary Supply (2023) Bill 2023.

The second and third readings of these bills are scheduled to take place on Thursday (May 18).

Following this, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, presented the first, second, and third readings of the Sarawak Craft Council Bill 2023.

During the second reading, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, supported the motion to table the bill.

The bill was subjected to debates by 19 assemblymen and assemblywomen, who expressed their support for the bill, leading to its unanimous passage.

The DUN sitting adjourned at 3.08pm and will resume on Wednesday (May 17) for the third day of the session.
