BINTULU: A sedan car parked by the roadside near Derawan Sime Darby plantation, Jalan Pesisir Bintulu-Miri, was destroyed in a wee hour fire yesterday.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Samalaju station were despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 3.40 am.
Upon arrival, the team confirmed the incident which completely engulfed the car and promptly carried out the extinguishing works.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident as the driver managed to get out to safety.
After ensuring that the situation was safe, the team wrapped up the operation at 4.20 am and headed back to their station.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
