KUCHING: A two-day seminar and exhibition showcasing the experience and capabilities of Sarawak oil and gas companies and businesses will be held in Miri next month.

Organised by Dewan Usahawan Bumiputera Sarawak (DUBS) in collaboration with Suarah Petroleum Group (SPG) and the Malaysian Oil and Gas Services Council (MOGSC), the “Inaugural Sarawak’s Oil & Gas Seminar and Exhibition 2019” will be held on April 13 and 14.

Themed “Now or Never!” and tagged “Sarawak – Able, Capable, Willing”, the event is supported by the state government and sponsored by Serba Dinamik as diamond sponsor; Dayang Enterprise and Ocean Might (Platinum sponsors); and Sarawak Energy, Petra Energy, Brooke Dockyard and Bank Islam (Gold sponsors).

DUBS, SPG and MOGSC in a joint media statement issued yesterday, said there would also be special engagement with Petros and Petronas.

“It is anticipated that there will be lively and relevant discussions as Sarawak has announced the implementation of the Oil Mining Ordinance 1958 and Sarawakians’ expectations of greater participation and benefit from the state’s oil and gas industry compared to the last 43 years,” the statement said.

On the seminar, the statement said it would comprise commercial and technical sessions on various topics, issues, challenges and opportunities.

The organisers hope that it will result in resolutions and an action plan to be submitted to the Sarawak government at the end of the session.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is scheduled to officiate at its closing ceremony.

The public are welcome to participate in the exhibition and seminar.

Top state government officials are expected to attend while Petros, Petronas, Curtin University Sarawak and other industry leaders and players have also confirmed their participation.
