KUALA LUMPUR: Fundamentally speaking, the 12th Malaysian Plan (12MP) that was presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is a complete one, in line with the theme of “Mampan Sejahtera, Berpendapatan Tinggi”.

Senator, Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim said a great plan must be implemented as soon as possible.

“A balance between the federation should be improved further, since this nation has been longstanding, it is impossible that we would put aside the development in Sarawak and Sabah.

“We have less than two years before we are heading towards the 13th Malaysia Plan, which is in 2026.

“What is dreamt by the people in Sarawak and Sabah should be further realised,” he said when debating on the 12th Malaysia Plan Mid-Term Review in the Dewan Negara.

For the development in Sarawak, Ahmad stated it was time to accelerate the infrastructure development, as it would become the main point for the outcome of the 12MP.

“We do not want any available projects being delayed because of the main and sub- contractors.

“Development projects that were classified as “sick projects” must be implemented under strict close monitoring or supervision, even though we know there are a lot of challenges we face.

“Such matters need to be done as soon as possible without compromise for the sake of our people,” he added.

He also commended the plan to improve 1,200 clinics throughout 2023 to 2025, as he understands the importance of the facilities for public health during post COVID-19.

“Especially in the rural areas of Sarawak, there are some of the clinics that need more attention.

“I hope the clinics can be improved further, so that the public health can be preserved in line with the Malaysia Madani concept, which includes staff of the clinics,” he added.
