MIRI: The State Barisan Nasional has received a list of names for the by-election for the Pujut state assembly seat.

One of them is said to be that of Miri mayor Adam Yii.

New Sarawak Tribune’s senior reporter Connie Chieng reported yesterday that “State Assemblyman for Piasau Dato’ Sebastian Ting with prominent candidate for

Pujut, Adam Yii went down to the ground to meet the people at krokop area.

“Adam Yii the Mayor of Miri was tipped to be the candidate for Sarawak United People’s Party.
“The by-election for the Pujut seat was called after its incumbent, Dr Ting Tiong Choon, was removed by the Sarawak Legislative Assembly on 12 May for allegedly having Australian citizenship.

“The Election Commission has set 4 July for polling and 20 June for nominations.
“In May last year during the State election, Dr Ting won the Pujut seat with a majority of 1,759 votes in a four-cornered fight against direct Barisan candidate Datuk Hii King Chiong, PAS’ Jofri Jaraie and Fong Pau Teck, who contested as an independent candidate.”
