KUCHING: The Sarawak Gerontology & Geriatrics Society (SGGS) will be organising a ‘Sarong Nonya Nite’ dinner at UCSI Hotel on Oct 3.
Its president Dennis Tan said the dinner is held is in conjunction with the annual World Health Organisation (WHO) International Day for Older Persons and International Grandparents Day.
“It is to recognise and commemorate the golden years of men and women in line with WHO International Day for older persons on Oct 1 as recorded in United Nations Resolution 46/106 in 1991,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 27).
Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah is expected to grace the dinner.
SGGS was formed in 2019 and is registered under the Registrar of Societies (ROS).
It was established to develop awareness towards an ageing society in Sarawak and to provide a platform for healthy elderly to obtain information on healthy living while ageing gracefully.
