KUCHING: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan branch has slammed Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak for its inconsistent views on the operation time at the Urban Transformation Centres (UTC).

Branch chairman Sim Kiang Chiok, in a statement on Saturday, expressed disgust over the ‘shameless’ actions of DAP Sarawak in its ‘never-ending cheap publicity stunts’.

He noted that recently two DAP Sarawak senior members had been ‘up to their old tricks again’ when they made ‘cheap publicity’ in calling for an increase in operating times at UTC.

“We, SUPP Stakan, would like to remind the public and all DAP Sarawak supporters that it was DAP whose Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng had shortened the operational hours at UTC in the name of cost-saving.”

“How is it that the DAP Sarawak can now have the cheek to turn around and request for more hours? This action proves that DAP was lying all this while about the wastage in creating UTC in the first place.

“If DAP thinks it is wise to lengthen the hours of UTC, then they have also inadvertently agreed that the country has good finances and that it is not going bankrupt and UTC is a great idea,” he said.

He said it also highlighted that DAP Sarawak were selfish and only there for personal gain, as when UTC operating hours were shortened by Lim, they had not dared to protest or request for restoration of the longer operating hours.

“The timing of the cheap publicity is also mind-boggling.

“DAP’s calculated publicity stunt is designed to instil anger and hate. Knowing that the federal government will eventually return UTC to its original settings, DAP Sarawak is also trying to take credit for its so-called proactive actions,” he said.

Sim urged the public to stop voting for DAP as it was similarly insane to believe that a different result would be obtained from the same actions done before.
