KUCHING: The Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Sheda) has responded to the challenge set by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to strengthen the expertise of media professionals, particularly in reporting on the property industry.

During a meeting between Sheda and the Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) on Friday (June 9), general manager Deborah Wong expressed Sheda’s commitment to assist journalists in understanding the property industry and support high-quality media coverage in Sarawak.

“Many terms and concepts within the property industry may be unfamiliar to individuals, and we aim to engage with journalists who cover business and property to help them grasp the intricacies of this industry,” she said.

To achieve this, Sheda plans to organise training workshops where journalists can explore various topics related to the property industry, including property ownership rights and property laws such as the Strata Management Ordinance, 2019.

Additionally, Sheda hopes to collaborate closely with the media in Crisis Media Management and Critical Communication by encouraging the issuance of media statements when issues arise.
