SIBU: Shoutun Najwan, a traditional Nasyid group from Kuching, took top honours in the Sarawak Nasyid Festival 2019 held here on Saturday.

Puteri Balqis from Sibu won the modern category.

Great vocals and performances from Shoutun Najwan also won the group Best Performance, best song and best musical arrangement awards by the juries at the competition.

The group took home a RM10,000 cash prize, a trophy and certificates.

In the traditional category, Zahran of Betong came second while Addai’e from Limbang was third.

Qiesya from Kuching won the second place in the modern category, followed by Izztihanni from Samarahan in the third place.

The second and third place winners in both categories received RM7,000 and RM5,000 respectively, together with a trophy and certificates. The consolation prize winners received RM2,000 each.

The best lyric song for traditional category was won by Al Fath (Betong) while Qhalis from Kapit won best lyric for modern category. Each received a RM1,000 cash prize.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg presented the prizes to the winners.
