KUCHING: The new Siburan Health Clinic is expected to be operational by the end of this year.

Deputy Minister of Transport I (Aviation and Road) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil announced that the clinic’s construction is now at 95 per cent completion and will be fully operational by the end of this year at the latest.

He said once the clinic is up and running, it will benefit around 60,000 to 70,000 people in Siburan District and nearby areas.

Dr Jerip thanked the federal and state governments for fulfilling the community’s long-standing need for a new health facility. The existing facilities in the area are limited, and this new clinic will help bridge that gap.

Dr Jerip said this during the ‘Premier With The Community’ programme at Siburan New Township which was part of the 60th Sarawak Merdeka Convoy today (July 15).

Additionally, Siburan is one of the five new districts, along with Asajaya, Gedong, Pantu, and Lingga, that were upgraded to district status starting from March 31 last year after being approved by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Furthermore, Abang Johari, during his visit to SJK Chung Hua Siburan on November last year, announced the approval of various projects for Siburan.

These include the construction of the Siburan District Integrated Administration Centre (IAC), the upgrading of the Siburan Hall, the construction of the District Mosque, and the establishment of the Siburan District Council.

Dr Jerip requested that the approval, allocation of funds, and construction work for these projects begin as soon as possible.
