KUCHING: Puncak Borneo folk, especially recipients of the Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) aid, are encouraged to sign up for the Skim Peduli Kesihatan healthcare scheme for the B40 group or PeKA B40.

Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin said he attended a meeting with representatives of Protect Health Corporation Sdn Bhd to better understand the roles, benefits, directions, and achievements of PeKA B40 implemented by the federal government through the Ministry of Health (MoH).

He said PeKa B40 was and aimed at meeting the health needs of low-income groups focusing on non-communicable diseases (NCD).

“This scheme offers four benefits, namely free health screening at any private clinic registered with PeKa B40 and medical equipment assistance of up to RM20,000.

“The scheme offers incentive of up to RM1,000 to complete cancer treatment at MoH hospitals and transport fare incentive when recipients undergo treatment at MoH hospitals in Sarawak worth RM1,000 maximum depending on the travel distance from home to hospital,” he said on Wednesday.

The Deputy Minister of Commodities and Industry Plantation urged the people in his constituency, especially those who had received BPR including couples who are age 40-year-old and above, to go for the scheme.

“I would like to encourage those who are in need of a wheelchair, intraocular lenses, and hearing aids to take immediate action by checking their eligibility at the PeKa B40 website (https://kelayakan.pekab40.com.my/semakan-kelayakan).

“Health is the best fortune and wealth in the world, thus periodic health check-ups are our responsibility to ourselves, especially when we’ve reached the age of 40,” he said.
