SRI AMAN: Six longhouse residents were arrested for stealing oil palm fruits at the Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Salcra) San Ugol Sri Aman oil palm plantation on Sunday (Aug 2).

Salcra in a statement said that the individuals from a longhouse in Undop here were detained by a team of police officers of Sri Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), assisted by Salcra auxiliary police.

“The police conducted a raid after obtaining information from the longhouse residents, who are also Salcra participants.

“Also seized were a four-wheel drive vehicle, some bunches of oil palm fruits and equipments to harvest palm oil,” the statement said.

Salcra added that with the increase in crude palm oil (CPO) prices, oil palm theft is expected to occur more frequently.
