TELANG USAN: Six Penan villages in the Telang Usan district each received 50 boxes of face masks as well as hand sanitisers from the Public Communication Unit (Ukas) through their Program Ziarah Ukas.

The boxes of face masks and hand sanitisers were handed over to Kampung Long Latei, Kampung Long Leng, Kampung Long Kevok, Kampung Long Jenalong, Kampung Long Urang and Kampung Long Beluk.

Present at the handover ceremony was Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau together with Telang Usan District officer Baru Tai and Telang Usan District administration officer Nurhidayah Hasbullah, as well as other officers from Ukas.

The assemblyman expressed his gratitude to Ukas for the face masks and hand sanitisers, as well as delivering information to the people.

“Ukas plays an important role in assisting the community in all 82 constituencies and we are grateful that we have them here in Telang Usan,” said Dennis.

Apart from that, he also noted the selection of aid materials is appropriate as the Telang Usan aream specifically in the Penan villages, is an area that was severely affected by Covid-19.

“I hoped that handing over boxes of face masks as well as hand sanitisers would help the community in the village to adopt the safety guidelines and be able to reduce the risk of infection,” said Dennis.
