SARATOK: When in Form Six, the entrance to the ivory tower is already in sight.

In light of this, Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri urged Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) candidates to give their best to achieve excellent results in the public examination.

According to him, the aspiration to attend university should be instilled in every student.

“When you are in Form Six, you have gone through a long phase of education, and the entrance to the ivory tower, pursuing further studies to the degree level, is already within reach.

“They say one step is already stepping into university. Therefore, do not waste time and the ringgit sacrificed all this while. Do your best in STPM. Prove that all students of Saratok Form Six College (KTES) can achieve excellent results, leading to the ivory tower,” he said.

He made these remarks when officiating at the Ninth Saratok Form Six College Awards Ceremony here today.

He hoped to see all students from the Kalaka state constituency who are studying in Form Six succeed excellently.

“The Sarawak government promises broad job opportunities with the exploration of new economic fields, especially in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Regarding assistance, many initiatives are offered to students in higher education institutions, such as book vouchers, free laptops, and various others.

And by 2026, university-level education will be free for Sarawakian children studying in government-owned higher education institutions.

This is evidence of the wisdom and concern of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in administering Sarawak. When the state’s revenue increases, it is shared with the people, such as through educational development,” he said.

Mohamad added that many projects of the Sarawak government, such as the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), are enjoyed by schools in the Kalaka state constituency, including KTES.

At the same event, he announced a grant of RM52,000 to KTES.
