KUCHING: The Bintulu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) is adjusting some of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) pertaining to entry into Bintulu.

“For example, for lorry drivers, they are allowed to take one test within 14 days. One test covers 14 days, if they want to transit through Bintulu,” said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at the Covid-19 press conference today (Apr 9).

He also pointed out the high number of Covid-19 cases reported in Bintulu of late, including 112 reported today.

“I understand that some cases that were positive in Sibu are people who applied to go to Bintulu,” he said.

As such, he hoped the public would understand why strict SOPs and policies were required in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.

On another matter, Uggah said thus far 1,845 teachers with comorbidities had received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
