SPAOH: Ten suraus from four villages in Spaoh recently received grants totalling RM100,000 from Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Meanwhile, a mosque received RM500,000 from the Gabungan Parti (GPS) government.

Lembaga Amanah Khairat Islam Spaoh (Lakis) chairman Dr Abang Ismail Abang Julhi said the grants from Uggah and GPS showed how much the Sarawak government cared about the welfare of the 4,000 Muslims here.

Uggah hands over the cheque for the contribution.

“With the money, the mosque and surau committees can improve or upgrade the mosque and suraus in the village and hold religious activities.

“On behalf of Lakis, I thank the Deputy Chief Minister for the allocations,” he said.
