“I have always dreamed of being a princess” – anonymous

ISN’T it every girl’s dream to marry a prince and become a princess?

Personally, I have always known that this dream of mine is very far-fetched, but it has not stopped me from daydreaming about marrying a prince.

Last week, the world was taken on a whirlwind ride, eager to find out about the Brunei royal wedding between Pengiran Muda Abdul Mateen Bolkiah and Dayang Anisha Rosnah Adam.

The royal wedding was a 10-day affair that captured the attention of people around the globe.

The opulent celebration featured a series of extravagant events with each more dazzling than the last.

From the grandeur of the engagement ceremony to the breathtaking beauty of the traditional wedding rituals, it was a spectacle that seemed straight out of a fairy tale.

As news of the royal wedding spread, social media platforms were flooded with images and videos showcasing the lavish festivities.

The stunning attire of the bride and groom, the majestic venues adorned with flowers and lights, and the presence of dignitaries from around the world all added to the enchantment of the event.

Among the dignitaries who were invited to attend the royal wedding reception was our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.

For many, the Brunei royal wedding was a glimpse into a world of luxury and tradition, sparking conversations and daydreams about what it would be like to experience such a fairy-tale moment.

It reignited the age-old fascination with the idea of marrying into royalty, with some people jokingly wondering if they had missed their chance to become a princess.

Amidst the glitz and glamour, it is essential to remember that real-life royalty often comes with its own set of responsibilities and expectations.

While the idea of being a princess may seem enchanting, the reality involves a life scrutinised by the public, adherence to royal protocols, and a sense of duty to one’s country.

As the world marvelled at the Brunei royal wedding, it also served as a reminder that dreams no matter how fantastical can still capture our imaginations and bring a touch of magic into our lives.

Whether or not one’s path leads to royalty, the essence of fairy tales lies not just in the grand celebrations but in the belief that extraordinary moments can happen even in the most ordinary lives.

As the world continued to buzz with the enchantment of the Brunei royal wedding, another royal figure graced the Land of Hornbill, bringing with him a renewed sense of excitement and admiration.

His Royal Highness the Regent of Pahang Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah embarked on a four-day visit to Sarawak last week.

This marked Tengku Hassanal’s second trip to the Land of the Hornbill following the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ tour the previous year.

His presence once again captivated the hearts of Sarawakians, leaving them starstruck by the charm and regality of the royal guest.

Among those enchanted by the royal visit was my colleague, Moeka, who eagerly volunteered to go on stakeouts in anticipation of Tengku Hassanal’s appearances.

Armed with her DJI Osmo Gimbal and smartphone, she patiently waited for moments to capture and share with the world.

The videos she took of Tengku Hassanal became an instant sensation across New Sarawak Tribune’s social media platforms.

The footage not only garnered overwhelming views but also propelled our TikTok account to reach an impressive 10,000 followers – a testament to the widespread fascination with royalty.

Moeka’s dedication and the positive response from the community reflected the enduring allure that royal figures hold, transcending borders and cultures.

The excitement surrounding Tengku Hassanal’s visit served as a reminder that while fairy tales may seem distant, moments of enchantment can manifest unexpectedly in our everyday lives.

As Sarawakians reveled in the joyous atmosphere created by both the Brunei royal wedding and the visit of Tengku Hassanal, it became clear that the allure of royalty continues to capture our collective imagination.

This is because it offers a glimpse into a world where dreams no matter how grand can still find a place in our hearts.

Whether through a lavish royal wedding or a captivating visit, these moments serve as a reminder that at least for a little while we can all be transported to a realm where every girl’s dream of royalty doesn’t feel so far-fetched after all.
