State BN Women’s Wing GE14 machinery launched

BY ALEXANDRA LORNA KOTA SAMARAHAN: The State Barisan Nasional’s (BN) women have been urged to work together in order to attain the power at the state level as well as at the federal level. “Our women under the leadership of the State BN Women’s chief, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah can be seen moving together with one rhythm in line with the desires of women in the state and country. “And if our women continue to cooperate with their leader, our women’s future will be brighter and the important thing is, you must be united,” said the Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg. This was said during the launching of the Sarawak BN Women’s 14th General Election Machinery at Dewan Suarah Kota Samarahan here yesterday which was attended by hundreds of BN women supporters throughout the state. Abang Johari added that the State’s BN would want the current government to be retained and Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to continue being the Prime Minister after the general election. Meanwhile, Fatimah added that on the AkuJanji Wanita BN, they would be working as a team to complement each other as well as provide full support for a stylish win. “BN Women will work together with the Youth Wing and main body (badan induk) to maintain the 25 seats won during the last GE13 and win another four seats so that the target of 29/31 parliamentary seats in Sarawak for BN will be achieved,” she pointed out. Fatimah said that BN Women would be observing the voters while studying their attitudes through the Jalinan Rakyat Plus (JR+) so that the services given would meet the desires and fulfil the people’s aspirations. “We also promise to go to the ground to give the best services, reaching out, touching their hearts and engaging the people’s minds,” she added. On the percentage of women candidates standing for the State’s BN in the coming general election, BN Women’s Chairwoman, Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has hoped that it would increase. She disclosed that according to the records, Sarawak’s BN Women had scored several achievements with the women’s election machinery. “They are always on standby for the election and I hope the Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg will increase the percentage of women candidates to stand in the election. “I asked him about this matter just now and he just smiled. I hope that smile will give us the chance in increasing the number of women candidates for Sarawak and I know that he believes in the women’s leadership,” she pointed out. Among those present during the event were Deputy Chief Ministers, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing.
