KUCHING: The state-level National Day and Jalur Gemilang celebration will be launched next Thursday (Aug 3) at the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) in Jalan Badruddin here.

The event is held in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) and carries the theme “Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” (Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hopes).

The launch is a continuation of the nationwide do that was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof in Ipoh, Perak, on July 16.

According to a press release, this year’s celebration promises a grand spectacle involving various community entries, including uniformed bodies and other participants.

The ceremony is jointly organised by the Sarawak Communications Department (JaPen), along with strategic partners such as the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Bintulu Port Holding Berhad.

The programme for the celebration includes captivating performances from the PDRM, Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

There will also be a lively flashmob performance by Sarawak JaPen, the Sarawak Arts and Culture Department, and Polytechnic Kuching.
