State records 119 new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 119 new COVID-19 cases today, pushing the cumulative total number of cases to 303,890.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement disclosed that 116 cases were in categories 1 and 2 while three cases were in categories 3, 4, and 5.

“Kuching recorded the highest number of cases at 31 followed by Sibu (21); Miri (20); Biintulu (12) Samarahan (six), Serian (six) and Limbang (five).

“Meanwhile, three cases each were reported in Sarikei and Selangau and two cases each in Matu, Sri Aman, and Kanowit.

“And one case each were reported in Mukah, Lawas, Belaga, Daro, Subis and Sebauh,” the committee said.

SDMC added that three COVID-19 related deaths were reported on the same day.

It said the first death recorded on April 11, involved a 28-year-old man from Bintulu. His body was brought in dead (BID) where his body was brought to the Bintulu Hospital. The medical history of the victim was unknown.

SDMC said that the second death reported on April 15 involved a 75-year-old woman from Serian.

The victims had dyslipidemia and autoimmune disease. She had passed away at the Serian Hospital.

SDMC added no new COVID-19 cluster was reported.
