KUCHING: The public has been advised not to post around images or videos on social media of the accident that claimed the lives of nine individuals when a four-wheel drive (4WD) they were in fell into the Batang Lupar from Triso ferry ramp on New Year’s Day.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, in making this call, said this was in respect for the victims’ families.

“I feel sad and shocked to see what had happened and would like to extend my deepest condolences to the victims’ families,” he said.

He also hoped that the government or relevant authorities would do something to prevent the same incident from happening.

“To the road and ferry users, please comply with the instructions and rules, be it on the road or ferry for your safety and others’,” he said.

Earlier, John officiated at the N23 Bukit Semuja Recreational and Sports Club (BUSEREC 23) Ride 2021 organised by BUSEREC 23 at Kampung Serian Hilir on Saturday.
