KUCHING: Police are appealing to the public to refrain from sharing unsubstantiated news or video clips on social media platforms.

The viral message on WhatsApp with an eight-second video clip and its caption.

The law enforcers made the appeal following an eight-second video clip that went viral on WhatsApp.

Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the video depicted a confrontation between two men, resulting in one losing consciousness.

The video also included a caption stating “Parking dispute in Kuching Central. Died broken spine n head injury, impulse is the devil keep calm this will not happen.”

“Our investigations have found that no such incident occurred in Kuching Sentral area, and there were no related reports.

“Therefore, we urge the public to cease sharing any misleading videos or news on social media platforms,” he said.

Ahsmon stressed that action will be taken against individuals intentionally creating alarm and anxiety in society.
