KUCHING: SUPP Batu Lintang branch members visited Encik Jeffrey bin Kassim at Kampung Sungai Maong Tengah near here last Sunday afternoon and handed over rice, other items and mattresses to him.

Jeffrey’s house was gutted by fire recently and he is appealing for help from generous members of the public to rebuild his house. Jeffrey works at a hardware shop and lives in the house with his handicapped brother.

The SUPP members were led by the branch chairman, Sih Hua Tong, publicity and information chief, Dr Wang Yin Chai, Youth leader, Datuk John Lau, Councillor Mok Chuang Ping and Women’s chief, Councillor Voon Yian Wie, Penghulu Giam Ann Kee.

Sarawak Thong Sim Siang Tong was represented by Albert Tan and three other key officers. President of Batu Lintang Recreation Club, Liew Chung Vui was also present.

During the brief visit, it has been confirmed that SUPP Batu Lintang Branch will seek corporate sponsorship to rebuild Jeffery’s house by providing building materials and workmanship.

Also present at the meeting were chairman of Sg Maong Tengah Mosque Committee, Hassan Ulsi and secretary, Omeli Mum. In his speech, Hassan thanked SUPP Batu Lintang branch for providing assistance to Jeffrey Kassim.

He added that SUPP is a peoplecentric political party. The villagers present were thankful to SUPP Batu Lintang branch for its immediate assistance.
