KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth wants Zool Amali or ‘Bozz Jebat’ to make a public apology promptly for insulting the Premier.

The party, in a statement issued on Friday said it fully supports the leadership and decisions made by Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to ensure political stability, community stability and harmony in the region of Sarawak.

“We hereby respond to the highly offensive statement made by UMNO member, Zool Amali Hussin or ‘Bozz Jebat’, in a recent video where he insulted the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“We want to express our regret over Zool Amali’s use of derogatory language in providing criticism that should have been more dignified and constructive,” SUPP Youth said in the statement.

The party emphasised that it does not condone the culture of using crude language in politics to promote or express opinions through social media platforms.

Noting the recently viralled video after Zool made insulting remarks against the Premier for supporting Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Tiong King Sing as a federal minister, the party said that politics based on racial animosity like this is unwarranted and should not be practised in the context of a country with diverse ethnicities, religions and backgrounds.

“We find this action indicative of a lack of integrity in politics and a disregard for the diversity of ethnicities and religions in the communities of Sarawak.

“We believe that in the political arena, there should be room for criticism and suggestions to the government for improvement, but such criticism should be conveyed with dignity and should not involve the use of offensive language that may offend others,” the statement read.
