SIBU: A 33-year-old man was arrested after leading the police on a 45-minute car chase here on Friday (June 25).

The action was recorded by members of the public who later viralled the video on social media.

Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, who confirmed the case, said the chase involved a police patrol unit and a man with past criminal records.

“The patrol unit first spotted a suspicious car driven by the suspect at Jalan Ling Kai Cheng around 11.25pm.

“When the policemen tried to stop the vehicle, it sped off towards Kampung Bahagia Jaya Teku. This prompted the police to call for backup to stop the suspect.
