MIRI: A local man has been detained by the police on Saturday night in connection with a missing motorcycle.

The motorcycle was reported stolen from a house in Tudan Phase 6 on Saturday.

According to sources, the 24-year-old suspect was picked up from a house in Desa Murni around 10pm by a team of Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The suspect (left) is being escorted off to the police station.

During the raid, police also seized the stolen motorcycle.

The suspect is currently being detained at Miri Central Police Station (CPS).

Sources added that the suspect failed to notice the presence of the CID team when they ambushed the house.

It was believed that the suspect was under the influence of drugs during the raid.

In an unrelated case, thieves were reported to have broken into an eatery in Jalan Merbau here on Saturday morning.

In the incident that was discovered at 9am, the thieves had escaped with several cooking items worth around RM300.

A police report was filed by the outlet’s owner later that day.

Prior to the incident, the complainant was about to start work when he noticed the backdoor ajar.

After checking his inventory, he realised some kitchen items were missing.

Among them were six packets of cooking oil, six packets of coconut milk and a handphone charger.
