KUCHING: Sarawak’s paintball team BEEZWAXERS took the third spot in the Malaysia Super Seven 2022 League.

The league, held at Nemesis Legion Paintball Academy in Kuala Lumpur last weekend, saw 16 teams from all over Malaysia taking part.

Nemesis Legion Paintball Academy representative Syamaizan Issey Kamarudin said the tournament served as a platform to hone the skills of the players and give them exposure.

“Hopefully this league will serve as a starter and warm-up for the players,” he said.

The two day-long competition was held in an open division format.

Duckside emerged champions and Mud Legion came in second.

BEEZWAXERS brought home RM1,111 cash along with medals.

Team leader Mohamad Nizam Datuk Ibrahim said the tournament was an opportunity for Sarawak to participate in tournaments outside the state.

Another team from Sarawak, WAXERS LEGION, also participated in the Super 7 league.

BEEZWAXERS and WAXERS LEGION qualified to the second round, but unfortunately, they met in quarterfinals and only one moved to the semifinals.

Nizam said BEEZWAXERS and WAXERS LEGION would be accompanied by HORNET WAXERS this weekend at a tournament in Penang.

“The Waxers Paintball Club comprising WAXERS LEGION, BEEZWAXERS and HORNET WAXERS have been active in paintball since 2008 and have participated in various tournaments in Sarawak and outside Sarawak

“Hopefully, more youth would participate in paintball,” he said.

The Waxers Paintball Club is run by Mohamad Nizam and his brother Mahmud Datuk Ibrahim.

Mohamad is the team leader of BEEZWAXERS while Mahmud owns WAXERS LEGION and HORNET WAXERS.

Another two Malaysia Super Seven 2022 competitions will be held at a date to be announced later.
