SIBU: Swift action by the Sungai Merah Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) successfully contained a warehouse fire incident that occurred yesterday at Jalan Ding Lik Kong.
According to a Bomba report, firefighters received a call at 7.27 am regarding the incident and promptly dispatched the team with assistance from the Sibu Sentral fire station to the scene.
Upon reaching the scene, it was reported that the fire had engulfed 65 per cent of the warehouse dedicated to storing plant fertilisers, measuring 100 x 120 square feet. Fortunately, due to the swift response and well-coordinated efforts, no casualties or fatalities were reported.
“Firefighters deployed strategic firefighting measures using two hose lines, each extending 200 feet, along with four spray nozzles, to combat the blaze.
“Employing an offensive strategy, the firefighting team efficiently tackled the fire. The water supply was secured from nearby hydrants and a water tanker, ensuring a steady flow throughout the operation,” it said.
After a thorough assessment and securing the premises, firefighters confirmed the complete cessation of the operation at 4.22 pm.
