SARATOK: The arrival of Syawal, celebrated with gratitude and joy, should be considered as a month to end disputes so that sour faces do not persist.

State assemblyman of Kalaka, Mohamad Duri, said that’s why Syawal cannot be separated from the words of apology, both outwardly and inwardly.

“In community life, differences of opinion and sour faces are inevitable.

“In fact, it is dangerous because it can lead to strained relationships with anyone, including our own family members, especially in politics.

“Nevertheless, I hope that the past month of Ramadan has taught us, and the upcoming month of Syawal should be used to mend disputes.

“Let us forgive and ask for forgiveness from each other to restore close relationships, as the biggest lesson from Ramadan and Syawal is when strained relationships can be mended,” he said.

He said this after attending a breaking of fast event with the Saratok Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) yesterday.

He called on the community to revive the practice of ngabang or visiting each other.

“Eid is a day for us to rejoice and celebrate together with family members, neighbours, friends, and the surrounding community.

“However, it should be done according to the prescribed etiquette of mutual respect.

“I hope that the upcoming Syawal celebrations can also be shared with non-Muslim friends to further enrich interfaith harmony,” he added.

Mohamad, accompanied by his wife, expressed excitement at being able to spend time with the Saratok Bomba in enhancing the Ramadan celebration this year.

He also announced during the same event that an allocation of RM100,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for next year has been approved to upgrade the Nur Ehsan Mosque.

Mohamad previously visited a two-day sale of fresh chickens, which received encouraging response.

He expressed commitment to continue the programme in the future.
