Tabung Haji pays zakat totalling over RM2mil to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak

KUCHING: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg witnessed the handover of Tabung Haji zakat to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak at his office here yesterday.

Tabung Haji group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin handed over the zakat for 2021 amounting to RM2,036, 294.37 to Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha, who represented Sarawak Treasury Fund.

“Tabung Haji hopes that the payment of zakat can be utilised by Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak towards the sustainability of zakat programmes designed in the state for the economic sustainability of the asnaf group,” Amrin said.

“Tabung Haji has also allocated RM28.8mil to implement corporate social responsibility programmes that have a positive impact on asnaf, including Program Ehsan, which provides financial assistance to asnaf such as the elderly, single parents and the disabled.

Also present were Tabung Baitumal Sarawak general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie, executive director of operations Helena Hashim, general manager of branch office operations Nurlaila Said, Sabah and Sarawak regional director Amat Kassim Pait, Sarawak Tabung Haji director, Sarawak Treasury Fund officers and Tabung Haji members.
