KUCHING: Mayor of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Datuk Wee Hong Seng considers the late former Tuan Yang Di-pertua Tun Pehin Seri Abdul Taib Mahmud as his great mentor.
In his latest Facebook post, he said Taib had always challenged him (Wee) to do better.
“I remember that he (Tun Taib) has taken an early interest even before MBKS was established in 1988.
“With his keen interest, the state’s capital has developed to be a vibrant city that it is today, well loved by our residents and winning accolades from visitors and tourists,” he said.
Wee also expressed his gratitude towards Taib’s immense and lifelong contribution of dedicated service to Sarawak.
“I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib as well as the family of the late Tun Taib,” he added.
Taib passed away at 4.40 am today at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
A state funeral will be held at State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex here.
