SIBU: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Education Bureau urges Sarawakian medical officers (MOs), who are facing discontinuation of their contracts, to approach the party for assistance.

Bureau chairman and Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing told reporters yesterday, it would appeal to the Health ministry to extend the MOs’ contract of service.

Health Minister Dr Adham Baba announced on April 15 that a 6-month contract was offered to 79 MOs, 853 dental officers and 1,139 pharmacists on a one-off basis.

Ding said he had written to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, asking for his support that the affected Sarawakian MOs be placed on permanent posts.

“I am happy that the chief minister on August 3 wrote a letter to Deputy Minister of Health Datuk Aaron Ago Dagan, expressing his support for four of the affected Sarawakian MOs to be given permanent posts. A copy of the letter was extended to me,” he said.
